If you google 0393073777, some links are "The Storm Has Many Eyes" by Henry Cabot Lodge, and some are "The Bonobo and the Atheist" by Frans de Waal.

The ISBN-13 ( 9780393073775 ) does the same thing.

Here at PBS, the database has it as Henry Cabot Lodge's book.

I want to find "The Bonobo and the Atheist" here to order or wishlist it, and I can't.

Any ideas?

FWIW, if anybody out there has any power to affect this, many sites have this same issue - abebooks has the two books conflated (one title listed, the other cover shown, for instance), and amazon.

So I guess both books really have this ISBN, or one book has a typo. I can't find any other ISBN's associated with either book.

Rick,

Publishers often re-use ISBNs and unfortunately, the first book in the PBS database with the ISBN is the one that stays.  I don't think there is a way to WL a book like this as most folks will have to post it so that PBS will assign it a short-ISBN.   Maybe another TG will have a suggestion for you.

Given the relative obscurity of the Lodge book, maybe that one could be switched to a short ISBN? The Bonobo book is going to be a (relatively) popular book. de Waal is a noted science writer, and WW Norton (the publisher) is plugging the book.

In either case, thanks for your answer.

Maybe the publisher would change the ISBN for you.  I guess you could ask them.

If the ISBN has NEVER been used in the system for the book listed then its possible they'd change it, but if the book that is currently using the ISBN on PBS has been swapped here then there could be a copy sitting on someone's bookshelf waiting to be reposted by the ISBN so I doubt they'd change it. You can always send in Feedback and ask, worse they'd do is explain why they can't.

Yeah, that's a good point. I hope nobody has ever swapped it.
