I was posting a book today by ISBN and it brought up the hardcover.  It had the paperback at the bottom of the page, so I corrected it, but I thought that was strange.  Does anyone know why that happens?  Sort of explains for me why I've heard people complain that they requested a hardcover and got paperback.  If you're not paying attention you might skip right over that.

Some publishers used the same ISBN for hardback & paperback, so members must learn to check the binding and post the incorrect one differently (directions available) .

Sometimes this is just a data error.  If you contact the data editing peeps, they can correct the problem :-)

It had the paperback at the bottom of the page, so I corrected it, but I thought that was strange.  Do you mean that you selected one of the other is this your book? options on the posting page? Because those are different ISBNs and you would then have your book posted incorrectly. I'd double check the entry on your shelf and remove it if you have an ISBN posted that is not on the book.  If the system brings up a different binding than what you have you must use the option for posting without an ISBN. Many publishers reuse ISBNs for different bindings and the first one in the system gets it, all others need to be posted as a book without one.

Joy--

Check the Help Center document titled, "When I enter the ISBN on my paperback, the listing shows a hardcover!"  :-)

Thanks, I'll check that out.  I don't want the listing to be confusing or anything...I did select the listing at the bottom for paperback because I thought that'd correct it.

Joy,

The listing for the paperback at the bottom has a different ISBN than your book, so you can't use it.

Catt

I think there'd be a lot less missposted books if they get rid of that "Is This Your Version?" pop up.
