Okay I received a book that has two ISBN's, one inside and one outside (on the back).  Anyway, they don't match!  The one on the back lists the paperback (which it is IMO) and then the one on the inside lists it as a hard cover book.

Anyone run accross this problem before?

Is there a difference in number betwee the two ISBNs?  Is one the 10 digit and the other the 13? Some of my paperbacks list the hardcover ISBN as well.  Maybe it has something to do with referencing the other editions of the book?

Are you speaking about the the ISBN listed on the copyright and publishing information page or is the number on the inside next to a bar code?   If there is a barcode on the inside cover chances are the number on the back cover is a UPC and not an ISBN

I did figure it out.  There were two ISBNs on the inside next to the title page.  One was for paperback (pbk) and the other was for hard cover.  It was pretty clear which was which and what they were for.  I am actually that I ran across this problem so that I will be more aware of it myself and hopefully help others to be aware also.  Thanks for the help!

Yes, sometimes on the copyright page both the paperback and the hardcover ISBNs will be printed. The person posting the book must enter the number that actually matches the book type.

Yep. Jessica hit the nail on the ehad. YOu have to be really careful to make sure that the type of book you are posting matches the description exactly. YOu can have a different picture ont he cover but the type needs to match.
