This is the first time I've come across this problem, but I'm hoping some of you may know how to handle it. I recently posted a paperback children's book to my bookshelf, and just noticed that the system lists it as a "School Library Binding." The ISBN is correct -- I have checked it multiple times. But this binding is a pretty standard children's paperback binding. I've already had one requester order it and I had to PM them to explain... they were looking for a hardback book and so cancelled the request. Is there any way to correct this in the system, or note it so that we can avoid having people request the book and then have to cancel it?

Post it using the "books without an ISBN" tab. I have had this happen a lot lately

This happens to be alot also.  If its a W/L book, I offer it book bazaar or just post using no ISBN #.

Sometimes books are reissued in more than 1 binding.  You can only post it by ISBN if the binding matches.

It's one of the great irritations of the site to me.

There is a simple fix for the database (make the binding "Unknown") but the policy decision was to make other bindings unpostable.

So I don't post'm.  I just take any that don't match to the local library.  Not worth my time to type out all the information on a book that's already in the database.

In my case there are a couple that are correct at amazon UK, but got reversed on their way to the US (site). The "some ISBNs are re-used" doesn't apply to them, and I'm not going to post them w/o one. I'm kind of peeved there's no way to change those, so the heck with it!

I've posted books without an ISBN before and it was very easy and took maybe 2 minutes.  They were also ordered quickly wiht little advertising on my part.

One of the first books ever requested from me was a book I had to post without an ISBN.  It was a hard back version of Stephen King's Carrie.  I think it may have been an old book club version that did not have an ISBN.  It was easy to post, but a pain. You have to measure the book and post the dimensions.  I think I typed in the summary blurb too.  But ithe book was snatched up right away, so it was worth it.
