This may not be the correct forum for this but I was going through a box of books that I had packed away and I have a book where the ISBN # on the back of the book is not the same as the number printed inside the book with the copyright & acknowledgements.

What should I do?

The book is called Home Town by Tracy Kidder and the ISBN on back comes up as Gym Rats: Sons Who Play for Fathers Who Coach by Eric Saunders when I entered the numbers here on PBS (ISBN 0-965-86100-7) but on the inside the ISBN # is 0-679-4558-4? Needless to say I am confused.

At this point, I'll probably just hold on to it but I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

J Nelson

I have had that happen repeatedly and I find that the one inside is usually the correct one. If that one brings up the correct information, then list it under that ISBN #. If neither of them bring up the correct book, then list it with the unique ISBN or "post without an ISBN".

Thanks. I thought that since I had the correct ISBN#  *somewhere* on the book then it may be okay to post but it's always helpful to have a second opinion. smiley

When I list it under the number inside rather than the one on the cover, I always put a sticky note on the book to let the (potential) receiver know that the book is listed under the ISBN inside the book -- that the one on the back is incorrect. I do that because I don't want anyone to RWAP me because they see that the one on the back cover does not match.
