My reading tastes have changed. I am on vacation and going though all my books.Once I pull alll the books I need to find homes for I am going to list the ones here that are on wishlist. The others I will need to find a place to  donate them to I live in a small apt. The  only problem I need someplace that will be able to pick up the books any idea's? Thanks for the help.

If any member here lives near me and wanted the books that would  be good also. I would list all of them here if I had the room to store them.

Taken Thanks for all the help.

Anne,

I know that the used books stores and libraries are always a good place to take books.  There is also a freecycle.org that is nationwide but the communications are local that people can pick up items.  Everything on this site must be free though.  I have also donated books to the local women's shelter and kids books to the local church/school.

Hope it helps...sorry to see the books go though.  It's so much fun to trade.

Thanks Janet.I wish I could kept them here but I have not place to keep them.Once I have them all together I will check out freecycle. I wish a member here lived near me. I will not mind giving them to a member from paperbackswap.

Big Brothers does pick ups and I think Goodwill and Salvation will also pick up, but it may depend on what it is.   Do you have a friend or family member that will take them to a used book store for you?  Or maybe your library for their book sale?  I would be careful about inviting strangers to your home to pick up the books.

Jennifer: That is what I would like somewhere like Goodwill or Salvation. I not sure if they pick up.I think they like you to bring the books to them. I donot have anyone to help me get the books to them.

Anne,

I did a member search in Astoria, NY ...there are several members close to you.  Maybe one of them would want the books?  Worth a shot anyway.

Other good places to donate books are nursing homes, assisted living facilities, battered women's shelters and Ronald McDonald houses.

And prisons.  But they want the books to be brought to them.  I think you could find a local PBS member by looking at the listings for your town.  I bet they would take them all off your hands and find places for the ones they don't want.
