Okay, I remember a (recent?) book and in the excerpt the scene was at a men's "house" (a club, maybe) and when the main male character walked in, there were women hanging all over the men, I believe some were playing billiards, and one of the gentlemen offered up one of the ladies on his lap. I also believe that all the men had nicknames, along the Vain/Devil lines, but not Stephanie Laurens. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure it's going to be (or already is) a series about this man, and his group of sinfully handsome friends.

Oooo, a club of handsome men with nicknames. Original!

Could it be the Inferno Club series by Gaelen Foley?

Couple come to mind-Celeste Bradley.  Her earlier "Liar's Club" series-with "The Spy"; "The Imposter" etc.  Suzanne Enoch has her "Adventurers Club" series but I don't remember any billiards-wounded outcast army/East India Company....Yeah, the Gaelen Foley...hmmm-will think on this one some more.  Christine Merrill has the 2nd Regency Silk and Scandal that has alot of scenes in a less than gentlemanly Gentleman's Club-Paying the Virgin's Price.

The Liar's Club does not have women hanging around.  A couple, but they work hard.  As spies.

I don't believe it's the Liars, Inferno, or Adventurer's club.  Mainly because I feel like the excerpt I read had more "spice" than those authors normally write, if that makes sense. Definitely a mass market paperback though.

And the women served no purpose other than as playthings.

It sounds very familiar but I can't come up with an author.

I have not yet read it, but Anne Stuart has a new series coming out called "The House of Rohan". There's a free prequel available here or on Amazon for Kindle, called "The Wicked House of Rohan".

Susanna - I've read Tessa Dare's first Stud Club book, "One Dance with a Duke". That's definitely not the one Heather is describing. In Dare's case, "stud" refers to a male horse used for breeding.

It reminds me of a scene near the beginning of Meredith Duran's _Bound By Your Touch_ but I don't really remember it very well, so I may be wrong.

It also calls to mind a Nicole Jordan series, but an older one. Though perhaps her newer one is exactly the same; wouldn't surprise me!

I think the book you are talking about is All Night with a Rogue (The Lords of Vice, Bk 1) :: Alexandra Hawkins. All the heroes (future books too) have sissy nicknames like "Sin", "Reign", "Devil", etc.. The book is okay. I wouldn't really recommend it since it was so predictable and like somebody said in an Amazon review, the book really did remind me of the movie Cruel Intentions

It was Alexandra Hawkins!  It started out promising, but their nicknames and that club scene stuck out to me. Not worth reading? Thanks for helping me find it - it was bothering me that I couldn't place it. I'll have to check out Duran and Tessa Dare too.
