I am not sure that I understand the reasoning behind your thinking that 6 bookmooch credits are worth 10 PBS credits. For one thing, there are far less books available on bookmooch. Secondly, I don't think that this is an acceptable deal on PBS. Since I also have a bookmooch account, there is no way that I think that a 6 for 10 deal is fair! Even if this is allowable on PBS, I would say that a 1 for 1 deal might be fair and even that is pushing it.

I don't even know what bookmooch is?  Is that even associated with PBS at all?

No, bookmooch is NOT associated with PBS. It is a completely separate book swapping website. The thing that makes it a little different is that it is international. If you see a book that you want and it is offered by a member in a different country, then that book will cost you 2 credits. The member offering it gets 3 credits. So this applies even if you are the member offering the book and someone from, say, Greece, wants your book - they pay up 2 credits and you get the 3 credits. Does this make sense? If the swapping is done within our country, it's a 1/1 deal.

Bookmooch offers a few incentives, like 1/10th of a point for each  book you post and 1/10th of a point for acknowledging that you received a book, etc. I've been continuing on that site with 10 -20 points/credits forever, because there is so little to choose from compared to PBS!

i do agree that there is far less on bookmooch! As for points.....I do believe its fair for the simple fact that you need to list 10 books to earn one credit...where as on pbs you list a book andship it out if requested and you get a credit....

Beverly H. - We're not allowed to post these offers on PBS. The only thing we can offer to trade for PBS credits is books. Maybe you can try Bookmooch forums if they allow it since the people there would be more interested?

This is the site's response to asking to trade PBS credits for other site points:

All right, here is the PBS Team word on this.

You can sell your PBS Credits here.

You cannot sell anything else.

That means that you could have posted "Anyone want to sell me some credits?  Contact me by PM if so," and then in Personal Messages explained what you are willing to pay.  But you should not post a topic selling anything for credits.  If in PM negotiations anyone was willing to accept the currency of another site for PBS credits, then you could make the exchange.

The original discussion where Richard posted Anyone want my BookMooch points?

Beverly, If I recall correctly, when I joined PBS, I needed to post 10 books initially and then they gave me a "freebie" credit for joining, so I don't see any big difference, since after that it's pretty much 1/1 on both sites. All that is still water under the bridge since the bottom line is that these transactions are not okayed by PBS. If you are really needing credits here on PBS there are several ways to buy them, if you'd like to use that option - from individual members or the kiosk or in the manner that Leann G. mentioned.
