When beautiful, blue blooded Frederica Montgomery took the position of governess in the household of Lord Lucien Devereaux she knew the risk she ran. Four previous governesses had fled the post rather than submit to the iron will and molten temper of the high handed and handsome lord. But Frederica was sure that her birth and breeding woudl give her the skill and strength to stand u p to Devereauxs demands and desires as she showed him that two could play at the game of unbending pride. It was a case of Devereauxs irresistible force meeting Fredericas immovable defenses until Frederica began to feel less like a lady and more like a woman in the presence of a gentleman who could not be trusted to act like one.
