This is a new retelling of the background story of what Trekkers/Trekkies will remember as the Genesis Project. Jim is still dating Carol Marcus and finally gets his first starship. Spock is on leave and meets Leila Kalomi and then assists in a near disaster by the Marcus team. It's a good book to include in a complete Star Trek collection.
