A very good autobiography! Jacobs was born a slave in 1813 and became a fugitive in her 20s. Her life is one worth examination.

An astonishing story of a young woman holding her own in the slave ravaged south in the 1800's. A testament to womens' will, courage, strength, perseverance and determination. A historic phenomenon!

Interesting look at slave life from a female's point of view. Covers the life of a young slave girl from early childhood and her determined quest for freedom for herself and her children.
