I've tried to figure this out but I just can't seem to stumble upon it: How do you post a link so that it's just a little blue Link instead of the lengthier URL?? I rarely see others posted links as the URL but I can't seem to find out how to make what I guess would be considered a button for it. Thanks, Jimi |

After you copy and paste it, hit submit and it should come up as Link. |

yep, what Anne said... |

That's all?? I've been using the add/edit link button in the toolbar. When I do I see www.whateversite.com. I'm going to try just copy and pasting a URL (my profile) and see. http://jimijam.paperbackswap.com/profile/index.php edit: I can't believe it! that's ridiculous lol. jimijam.paperbackswap.com/profile/index.php is what I get from using the button. Ugh. Thanks a bunch, guess I just wasn't thinking about this the right way. Last Edited on: 5/30/08 8:04 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

To make a link say what you want to: once you paste the link, highlight it, then start tying what you want it to say EileensProfile No Spaces, Do Not BackSpace While doing this... Eileen's Profile Once you're done typing what you want it to say, then you can go back and put in spaces, punctuation, make corrections. I hope that was understandable:) |

This is how I have always done it- type what you want it to say, such as a book title. Open another browser window and browse to the URL that you want to link to, then copy the URL. Go back to the PBS window, highlight what you want to show up as a link, and then click on the little link icon at the top of the editor window (looks like a couple of chain links). Paste the URL into the space where it asks for it, then click OK, and it will create the link with the text. |

How_do you make spaces like above post? |
|||
|
|||
Sheena, after I typed the whole thing I just went back and added the spaces. I was so anxious to see if it worked I didn't even finish putting in the whole title. |

|

cool! Thank you! |

Here's how I did it: 1) I typed in "Lil Book Garden" 2) Then I left button dragged the typed-in text to high-light the words "Lil Book Garden" 3) Then I clicked the Insert/Edit Link tool button (the chain icon on the tolbar) 4) That gave me a popup window. I copied the URL address of my link beginning with http:// and then pasted that into the window that was opened by the Insert/Edit Link tool button. 5) Clicked the OK button on the opened window and then clicked Submit Reply on the Post Topic window. This way you can choose a custom link name like (Lil Book Garden) instead of http://www.mybgarden.com/reldate.html which you get if you simply paste the URL into your reply and click Submit Reply. James - it's so good to "see" you! we've been missing you on the forums. You don't HAVE to get books to post! Hope you are doing well. and thanks for asking this question - I've done it by "accident" before but didn't know how I did it! Ruth |
