Oh my goodness- a beautifully written book despite it's depressing themes of apathy and self-destruction. Parts are so horrifying, you feel like you want to puke in your mouth or the episodes leave you as emotionally comatose as the characters themselves, but I think "The Informers" is a modern classic and worth reading. It really gets you in the gut.
