I know that this was discussed somewhere, and we were told how to locate where it tells us when our membership expires, but I've forgotten how. I do know mine expires on Feb 15, but would like to know where to find that info. Pat

Thanks for the info. Appeciated. Pat

At the very top of the page, there is a little clock next to the number of credits you have.  Hold your cursor over that and you will see  a line about your expiration date.

You can also see the date in the Kiosk under Membership.

I had no idea you could click on that clock & it would tell when our membership expires.  Thank you for the info, Roxanne!  yes

I got an email this morning. I think everyone's expires the same day.

It now says that if we don't renew, the system will remove Wish List books to reduce us to 100 rather than just not letting us add any until it drops below 100. I think that's a change.

Craig: The memberships expire at different times based on when they were purchased. Also, Gold Key memberships from before the change turned into Standard Memberships (still expiring on the appropriate date based on date purchased). For instance, I had a Gold Key and had to renew in June, so I'm good until that date on June 2016.

if you do nothing the wish list will be reduced by taking the most recent wishes off the list. otherwise you can reduce your wish list by removing books yourself to get down to the new number.

I think I am leaning toward going up from limited to full. I really hate to pay the twenty though. I wish they had a senior citizen discount. smiley

So is it best to wait until just a couple days before expiration to re-up?   Or if I renew now, will it extend my expiration to 15 FEB 2017, OR just a year from date I pay?

I wish they had a senior citizen discount. Yes!!! I want that too, but how would we prove our age to TPTB?

Jeanne, you can renew early without losing any time. Last year I bought the standard membership at the $18 early rate but my account doesn't expire until August as I had the Gold Key before. I could have waited until August to but the standard but wanted to save $2.

The time is added to your current membership. So you would have a year and how many remaining days.

All of your "free swap credits" will roll over.

I have a boatload of free swaps but they don't do me any good. Almost a year now since TPTB said the free swaps would be worth soemthing to standard members.

I keep watching to see if we can transfer them. PBS hinted at it. Nope. If we could transfer them, then they would be useful.

I will mention that I have a thread in the Bazaar where members are willing to buy you a gift membership in return for your credits.  It's an option if you are credit rich. Membership GC for Credits thread

Has anybody done a comparison. Which is cheaper, sell your credits for money and use the money to buy a subscription. Or trade credits for a subscription.

If you can get more than $2 a credit in the book bazaar, it will be more cost effective to sell them.  I do not know if there are fees or charges for transferring money to a PayPal account, as I don't have one, so you would have to take that into consideration as well.  We generally exchange credits for memberships at a $2 per credit rate (6 credits for a limited membership, 10 for a standard one).  Hope that helps.

The thread in the Bazaar is meant to have members helping members so they try to keep it fair to both sides of the transaction and have it equal about the same.

I had this same question, and haven't been able to find an answer yet, so I'm holding off on renewing for a few more days at least, since I have to reduce my WL to 200. If I paid for the 500 WL until 2/15, I don't want to reduce it until I have to.

Your membership will be renewed from the date it expires.  If the previous membership expires 15 Feb 2016, the new membership will commence on 16 Feb 2016 and run through 15 Feb 2017.

Why can't I just use my own credits to buy membership?  This site has lost a lot of members in the last year, make me sad....

I just noticed this morning my little clock at the top of the page turned red. I guess this is one of those added features we needed to pay for.
