Maybe not McMillan's best, but still a good read. Very satisfying ending.

Even though it deals with some of the same issues, this book feels a lot different from "Waiting to Exhale." Enjoyable and worth reading.

A good book about "mid-life crisis", family, and finding the way to the future.

Terry McMillan's sixth novel (her biggest seller was "Waiting to Exhale") about a woman in mid-life learning to take care of herself without shortchanging everyone else who depends on her. Like all McMillan's novels, women's friendships figure prominently.

Great McMillan, one of the few books I though could have been longer. I wasn't done with these charecters yet!

Terry is one of my favorite authors. I was sad when this ended because the characters had become my friends.

I wanted to really really like this book. It didn't suck, but it seemed repetitive in places and "too pat" in others. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun read, but it was too scattered - I think it could have used another pass through the editor to fix some of the weirdness in it.

BUT.... the story was good, a woman going through a mid-life crisis while her husband decides he's going to go through one too, and always her friends by her side. I only hope I have friends that love me as much as hers when I start acting crazy (yeah, okay, shut up those that know me).

Bottom line is that this would be a perfect book to read on vacation or when you needed something you could easily pick up and put down and not put too much thought into it. There are a few parts that are just heartbreaking though (her niece and nephew). So, if you cry easily, get a hanky.

Marilyn and Leon have been married 25 years, she's premenopausal, he's restless, the kids are grown, and her mother-in-law gets on her nerves. She wants a change (maybe). He goes to Costa Rica to find "his center."

I loved the characters and the storyline. I hated for the story to end, it's like I was part of it all and now they're all gone... Great book!

Found some of the language distasteful but most of the content was realistic.

Funny, but also some sad moments, however the characters were flat and not fleshed out. This writer relies on dialogue mostly, without rich descriptions. Had to scan a good portion of the unending banal dialogue and slowed for the more important sections.

It was good but, it wasn't her best. I kind of guest what was coming next.

Marilyn Grimes, wife and mother of three, has made a career of deferring her dreams to build a suburban California home and lifestyle with her workaholic husband, Leon. She also troubleshoots for her grown kids, cares for her live-in mother-in-law (and elderly poodle, Snuffy), keeps tabs on her girlfriends Paulette and Bunny and her own aging mother and foster sister and holds down a part-time job. But at forty-four, Marilyn's got too much on her plate and nothing to feed her passion. She feels like she's about ready to jump. She's just not sure where.
