Tonight I tried to post a book from my TBR list using the ISBN number and I received the message in my subject line. The book did go on my book list but couldn't be listed from there either. The message was the same. I finally listed it by way of the "books without ISBN number" route. I'm curious about what it means and why did I get it. I originally got the book through my wish list and I doubt if the person who sent it to me had a problem.
TIA for any help offered.

What did the message say Myra? |
|||
|
|||
It said "Invalid JSON data." |

JSON is an acronym for JavaScript Object Notation (I looked it up). I dunno what the message would mean though. Maybe a coding error on the page? |

Yes, it's a programming problem. A lot of the pop-ups and roll-overs you see on this site use JSON to get the data from the server without submitting and refreshing the entire page. |

if the book has a valid ISBN and you had it on your shelf that way, I'd try going back and reposting it with the ISBN if you keep getting the error message then use the Contact Us link at the bottom of every page and let them know what is happening |

Yeah that sounds like a programming/computer issue and not an ISBN issue. |

I got the same message. The message pops up whenever you try to post the book by using the "post books" tab and the ISBN (both ISBNs 10 &13 pull up this message.) The way I got around it was by useing the bookshelf feature. If you go to your bookshelf (and you've been allowing the system to put your recieved books on "hold") you can "check-mark" the box next to the book you wish to repost. Then you go to the top of the page and hit re-post checked books, and it should let it through. (It did for me anyway.) Didn't think to contact TPTB since I found a way around it. But I guess I'll go do this now just to let them know there's another person having this issue. |

Thanks to all for the help. I found the answer to the problem and posted the book using the ISBN. It's already been requested by the next wisher. I did remember to delete the first posting without the ISBN. |
