I requested a book on 10/17 and kept getting messages re whether I'd received the book. Well I got it today almost a month later. It had been mailed on 11/8 not in Oct as originally stated. I'm so tired of getting torn books and late books. The book is in great condition I'm happy to say but couldn't they have PM'd me to let me know it hadn't been mailed yet?

i totally agree with you. the deal is the book should be mailed within a certain time frame. they click the button 'mailed' just to get the credit and then wait a month to actually mail the book. something should be able to be done about it.  i guess it goes to show...there is no honor in the honor system any more.

I think you can mark it RWAP for late mailing.  You don't get a credit back, but it flags their account.

Yes, PBS now has an option to RWAP for late mailing.

Keep in mind that the PBS automated system sends reminders to both senders and receivers at a few specified times.  Don't take it personally, nobody is nagging or impatiently staring at your account  http://www.reviewsbyjessewave.com/wpstorage/wp-content/uploads/Green_Smilies/icons/icon_glaskugel4.gif

Be sure and mark it RWAP received with late postmark.  You will be asked to provide the actual postmark date.  PBS does keep an eye on anyone who consistently mails late.  By marking it so, it helps to weed out those who do not follow the rules.

Did the reminders come from PBS? They are automatic. Now, if you also got PMs from a late mailer? That would piss me off.

Please do use the RWAP late postmark option. While we can use the little calendar questionnaire, this makes sure that PBS notes it on their account.

I wish I had seen this earlier, I received one today marked mailed on 10/24 but postmarked 11/6. I marked it received already but I sent them a pm saying it was not only uncool but against the rules. I didn't know there was a mailed late RWAP option.

Yes. It is our new RWAP option. It does not ask for a credit. But it has a little more force than the questionnaire.

I too keep getting automatic reminders re: receiving a book... Been waiting since early october for a paperback from California...assuming it is lost in the mail, but now wondering if they actually did send it.. hoping to still get it.  I have made it a habit not to mark it mailed, until I come back from the post office. I will use the late postmark option, if and when i do receive it. thanks.

Your book could still arrive Debbie, the sorting center in Bell Gardens (California) has a bit of a reputation for lost and delayed mail.  If so check for a postmark or counter postage date.  If you find evidence of legitimate late mailing, then use the new RWAP option.

Otherwise you have to assume postal error...which happens also.  Not as often as claimed by late mailers, but every so often we have members comment that they received a book several months (or even a year) later with counter postage indicating it was mailed exactly when it was supposed to be.

ETA - it's also acceptable to send a pm to the sender near (or just after) the lost date.  Politely let the sender know you have not yet received the book, and will mark it received from your transaction archive if necessary.  You can also inquire as to whether there was a mailing delay.

Was there ever a notice sent to all members about being able to RWAP late books? Very nice addition to the site!

usually new stuff is just advertised with a banner across the top of certain pages of the website like homepage, on the blog or  sometimes as a msg in the forums under a specific topic that applies to the new function.

Denise L:

Wow, I didn't know about Bell Gardens' Reputation.  Sadly, one of the books I mailed recently is stuck there now. I hope it arrives when it's supposed to!  It's only been less than a week, but the other book I mailed that day was delivered today, so not sure why the hold up!

Btw, do you know what Unknow PC and Unknown OF mean?  Got that message when I checked the details of another book?

For something sent nearly a month later, you should definitely mark it RWAP late mailing.

I don't think the late mailing "RWAP" is actually a RWAP like people seem to believe.

If you look at your Transation Archive, you will notice that a late mailed book is not marked RWAP.

You can see the notice on new stuff in the Whats New in the upper right corner of the screen. The new receiving options appear to have posted in there in May of 2011.

It still follows the transaction, it is just not marked the same as other Problem swaps in the TA. The Team would still be able to see the history of a member doing it too often.

I don't think it works any differently than the old "late mailing" did. It's just different on the front end, the back end of the transaction is that the member gets sent the same late mailing email that they always got. I don't think they do anything different on the back end than they ever did, which was note late mailings, send an automated email, and if there are too many, review the account. That's what they did before, and that's what they do about it now. So, its called a RWAP on the front end, but it is not noted as a problem transaction in the TA the way that other RWaPS are.
