Irving J. Rein is a Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University. He is the author of many books, most recently "The Elusive Fan: Reinventing Sports in a Crowded Marketplace" 2006. He was a pioneer in the study of popular culture, teaching courses on the subject at Northwestern beginning in the 1960s.
