I've just tried to print postage for 2 books, one going to NY and the other to TX and both times I've received the error that printable postage isn't available for each address.

Are they updating or are these bogus addresses?  I've never come across this before and use the printable postage all the time.

From the Help Docs:

Problem: I am getting the message "electronic postage cannot be used for this address".  What does this mean?

Answer:  This message "electronic postage is currently not available for this address" is an error message from endicia.com, our online postage provider, and often it just goes away if the sender tries again to print after a few minutes.

If the address is not validated by USPS,  you will also see this message.

The missing information may be as simple as an apartment number; the use of the "&" and "#" symbols can also cause the address to appear invalid.

You can contact the requestor by PM to alert him or her to this, so that he or she can validate his or her address with USPS.

  • The requestor can go here to find the validated form of his or her address.
  • The URL to that page (to copy-paste into a PM if you like) is  http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp

Even if she or he changes the address in the account, it will not change the address on the file you have downloaded.

  • If you do not wish to send the shipment without PBS-DC, you should cancel. You can repost the book later.
  • If you repost the book and she has not requested another copy from someone else, she can re-request it after correcting her address.

Given that you've gotten the same message for two different addresses, I'd say try again later. It may be an error message.

Thanks for the ideas.  I forgot to mention that I did check the help documents but just thought it was odd with the addresses being so far away from each other.

I had that happen this morning on one label I was printing. I tried again about 5 minutes later and it worked fine, so I think there must just be very temporary downtimes occasionally.
