This simple guide to art appreciation and history should be on every homeschooler's reference shelf. It's easy to understand and to use, and pretty objective. One thing I learned is that in the Middle Ages architecture was used to symbolize Christianity, but during the Renaissance, architects attempted to get away from this Christian worldview by returning to the classical principles of architecture (such as proportion and balance).
