I guess you are referring to modern Italian horrors, which I am not familiar with.  But I'm a huge fan of the old Italian b&ws that used to be shown on Thriller or Creature Features.   Most of them had a vampire theme and starred Barbara Steele.

Dario Argento's Suspiria is one of the best horror movies of all time.  I've not seen any of the ones you've listed.

The Beyond is definately an italian horror masterpiece.

It tends to irritate me that "Suspiria" is always thrown out as one of the best italian horror films and best horror films of all time....I really think it is one of Argento's weakest films..."The Beyond" is amazing...Fulci and Mario Bava are waaaaay better than Argento in my opinion.

To the original poster...if you haven't seen Fulci's stuff...you need to get on that...then you can really see how disturbing and unsettling italian horror can be.
