I ran across some things that are listed (well, they actually come up on a search but are currently wishlsted) that aren't allowed to be swapped here. Is there somewhere you report it? Like if you come across calendars or notepads or something?

As long as they aren't posted there's really nothing that they can do about it, the items come into the database when it is compiled from outside sources. If there is something actually posted to the system that shouldn't be, you can report it in the Suspicious Items red sticky thread in this forum.

You can also tag it as not postable, even if there's no order button.  That can be an alert to a newer member that whatever it is isn't postable.

Ah okay. I didn't think about tagging. I saw people have some of the stuff wishlisted, and I was thinking, you know, I wouldn't want my wishlist space taken up by something that I can't ever receive from here.

I was so glad when I learned on the forums not to wishlist the books with the 5digit numbers.

Don't tag something with "not postable" because that can be read as an inappropriate tag. Instead tag it with something like "item not allowed on PBS" or something like that.

There's a "Report Suspicious Items" thread in this forum. Copy the ISBN for the item into that thread to report it.

babs - actually, you CAN wishlist the 5digit numbered books... as an example - there's a few ficton series' from Guideposts that I like to read and post. Rarely do any of them have isbn numbers. When I post one of those, I usually go through the search feature and see how many are already posted (as in typed in with a 5digit number) in the system and if anyone is wishing for them. I try to post to the wishlisted ones first.
It's just up to you if you want to wishlist them or not.

Kathy - technically you are not supposed to be posting to an existing short ISBN unless you are reposting a book that you received to the number it had. Those are one time use numbers assigned to a specific copy of a book and are not intended to be used by any other copy of the book. If you are posting a new copy of a book without an ISBN, you are supposed to be getting a new short ISBN assigned to it.

To echo what Melanie said, the PBS Team has confirmed that "members should NOT post another copy of a book to a non-ISBN listing."

Anna B., who helps coordinate the image and data teams, talked to them and she explained it this way "Even though the listing may not have been in use for some time, there are transaction records for the original book; edits or other copies posted  can cause confusion.  Also, the original requestor could still have that original book and decide to re-post it."
