Kinsey Millhone is a great character. Light reading at its best. I'm a man and have no trouble reading this lady detective stuff.

I found this installment to be a little boring. The mystery itself was really good and had a surprise ending - like all of the Alphabet books. The trouble was while investigating this disappearance, Kinsey also started looking for her long lost relatives and frankly I really don't give a hoot as to who her relatives are. IMO Kinsey's family has no baring on this story and therefore seemed to be just filler.

Yet another great book by Sue Grafton. How she keeps coming up with such ideas to keep a person so interested is beyond me.

Wendell Jaffe has been dead for five years---until his former insurance agent spots him in a dusty resort bar. Now California Fidelity wants Kinsey Millhone to track down the dead man. Just two months before, his widow collected on Jaffe's $500,000 life insurance policy---her only legacy since Jaffe went overboared, bankrupt and about to be indicted for his fraudulent real estate schemes. As Kinsey pushes deeper into the mystery surrounding Wendell Jaffe's pseudocide, she explores her own past, discovering that in family matters as in crime, sometime it's better to reserve judgment....

Thought I had read all the books in this series and then I discovered that I hadn't read this one! It's perhaps one of my very favorites of the Kinsey Millhone books.

Wendall Jaffe has been dead for five years, until his former insurance agent spots in a dusty resort bar. Kinsey Millhone goes on the trail to locate Wendall Jaffe and, in true Sue Grafton fashion, meets many interesting and dangerous characters in the process.

Sue Grafton is a very good writer. You will need to start at the beginning to follow along.
