hi all, sorry if this has been asked before. I couldn't get through the lover at last book, due to my not believing the romance, the constant references to pop-culture and the numerous pages dedicated to other plotlines. I was wondering if anyone has read the king and if it's any different than her last few books in the series? thanks.

I have read The King and I loved it. But...no its not different in the things you're referring to. I believe there's a reference to Miley Cyrus in the first page of the first chapter. LOL   And several more...   And yep, all the story lines are still there. I've kind of grown to love that about her books, but I can see where it would really bother some people.

the pop culture references drive me nuts. and the constant cursing. If the cursing made sense, fine. but it's like they curse just to curse and fill the page. I don't mind 2 main storylines. But Ward has a different pairing/storyline almost every other chapter which gets confusing. thanks for the heads up! I used to love her, she's always had more than one storyline and cursing etc, but its gotten nuts in my opinion. I'm still trying to find a good series that measures up lol.

I loved it as well, but it is pure ward and matches the last few books for over the top soap opera lines.

I'm getting a little sick of the name brand dropping and the slang.  Also I'm kind of sick of Bhlay and Qhuinn already and it's keeping me from reading Lover At Last.  Also not a big fan of m/m romances so that's also has me putting it off.  (nothing wrong with m/m romances, they just aren't my thing personally).

I never believed the Blay/Quinn storyline only because Quinn was soooo straight for sooo long and it just seemed random and out of place.the name-dropping is aggravating and the slang is too much in my opinion.

I am just kind of tired of them because it's been building for several books now and I'm ready to move on from them already.

I just got the email from the library that it's available to me on ebook.  Debating if I want to read it w/o reading Lover At Last or if I want to speed read LAT first.

I'm several books behind on this series but I have them all up through Lover at Last. I'm already tired of her slang, the sh!tkickers references and her constant cussing and brand name dropping but I still enjoy the stories themselves. I'm not sure I'll make it all the way to Lover at Last though. We'll see.

I liked the series from the 2nd book up to and including butchs' which I was lover revealed. after that, it got really really crazy with the constant side stories, constant cursing and name brand dropping. Lora Leigh is another author that curses too much-only she just says damn all the time. I kept johns' story but didn't enjoy it, that to me was the most disappointing I was soooo looking forward to it.
