I just requested a book that had occurred to me I might try to find here, tonight it was on my home page as one recently listed, so I clicked on it to request it. I then clicked on the title, to read the description again, and there are 541 people wishing for it, how did I happen to see it there for the asking??!  Wouldn't it have been offered immediately to the first person on the list of wishers, then then next, etc?  HOW did I get to order it?  JUST curious how this might have happened.  (And I'd gladly give it up to someone on the wish list. If I'd been wishing and waiting a long time and it never got offered to ME I'd probably be disappointed...)  Anyway, anyone know??

Are you sure that the ISBN that you ordered is the same as the ISBN on the Wish List?

What book did you request? I would have to guess the same thing - you requested an ISBN that was different that the Wish Listed book because the system is set up so you can't request a WLed book, there is no Order button on them.

Just because it was recently listed, does not mean it's available! It just means that someone posted it--and before you looked, there were probably 542 people wishing, with the one posted being offered to #1 in line.

Or did you order it from the PBS Market?

Yep, there are five hundred people waiting for this book. It got posted, and it didn't automatically get offered to the first person there, obviously.  It was available when I requested it, and now it's on it's way, I feel kind of bad!  Same isbn. I click on the one coming to me, and it shows a wait of 543 people. WEIRD!

Don't feel bad Robin.  It was due to nothing that you did; must have been a system glitch.

Just put it at the top of your TBR pile and post it when you're done.

System glitch or not, I would not repost it unless I wanted to. Don't feel pressured to just because the system messed up.

I know most of my books are intended as keepers until I read them and really decide whether I'm going to (re)post it or not.

I suppose it's possible that 543 people saw the book on the front page and WL it after you requested it.  But not likely. Probably just a system glitch.

One time I had a WL time out and it kept getting offered to the person it timed out on.  There were close to 100 people in line so it wasnt' a matter of this person just readding it to WL and being the only wisher.  I had to contact PBS to get it to go the next person in line.

Robin - please send in Feedback and give the Team the details and name of the book so they can look into it. they won't take the book away from you and can make sure there isn't a glitch in the Wish List system since there really should be no way to request a WL book since the Order button should not be present.
