james herriot's dog stories
Author: James herriot
Plain dark green covers except for title/author/pub on spine. Dust jacket missing. Possibly a book club edition? I looked up the title on Amazon -- they have the first edition dated as 4-15-1986, but the dimensions are LARGER. So this is either a 2nd edition or some book club edition.

I have loved all James Herriot books. Most chapters are small, individual stories in their own right; nice to be included in one 'themed' book, but this one re-tells many chapters from other, earlier books. If this is the first one you pick up, you will be delighted.

I'm a softee when it comes to dogs, and this book was a good one. Herriot's works are all good, of course, but this one really agrees with me because I'm such a dog nut. Many of the stories are taken from his other books, but he does add new commentary, and even as repeats they're worth reading again.

I really liked then veterinary stories in this book, and I am more of a cat person than a dog person. The relationships between James' patients and their masters are truly touching.
