I really like this author, like reading about New Orleans, and like the heroine, Skip and her assorted friends and family.
Homicide detective Skip Langdon finds herself in the middle of a sweltering New Orleans summer with the case of a murdered beloved Jazz and Heritage Festival producer.

This is part of a series of mysteries set in New Orleans. Great descriptions of the city in the decade before Katrina, and a wonderful main character, a policewoman named Skip Langdon.
