I just started watching the DVDs of Showtime's Dexter and I love it.  Today, my husband pulled out a little flier in the box that show that this is actually based on a book.  So, I am wondering,  is it still worth reading the books?  Or do you think that having watched the TV show first will have ruined them all?

The books are great -  there are only 3 of them

I think you will be on a long wish list though!  Might be worth to buy them used.

Thanks.  I put them on my WL, but if they are not going to be moving quickly, I'll probably stop at B&N to pick them up.    And if it doesn't become a keeper (very few things do for me) the $ won't be wasted as I can pass them on here.

I went to Barnes & Nobles to check out everything cuz it's my favoritest place in the whole wide world to be; ahhh the books & smell of coffee wafting thru the air! This is my dream not a candy store! lol; actually I picked them up to see if I would like the writing & was not impressed; I had seen the opening story on TV however this is probably because David Wiltse did a super fantastic job on a very similar story line way back when which I totally adored! The man was an FBI agent who hunted serial killers & he liked to kill them; very very similar story line in Dexter; but I didn't think I would like to read so I didn't get or put on my wishlist; Wiltse's has long been a favorite of mine & I have reread & super enjoyed several times;

Well, I couldn't wait for them any more, so I went and bought all three.  And I got a notice from Amazon that we can preorder the 2nd season on DVD!
