I really enjoyed this book. It discusses the various legends of the origin of the Jersey Devil. It goes in-depth about the famous 1909 Jersey Devil rampage as well as modern sighings. I was fasinated by the life of the "Pineys," people who have lived deep in the Pine Barrows for hundreds of years just bearly surviving.
The book description says the movie "13th Child, the Legend of The Jersey Devil" was based on this book. I don't think so. I rented the movie and it is the typical gory Hollywood B movie. In the movie, the Jersey Devil is a Native-American shaman who shape shifts into the Jersey Devil to exact revenge on the White man. The movie is nothing like the true legend of the Jersey Devil. If you want to learn more about the Jersey Devil, this is a must have book.
