Well, it's not very good poetry, but it's by Jimmy Stewart, who was a nice person, and sometimes there is an amusing passage. Here's the first stanza of a poem about a dog:
He never came to me when I would call
Unless I had a tennis ball,
Or he felt like it,
But mostly he didn't come at all...
The poetry is doggerel but it is a nice glimpse into an American icon. If you are looking for pithy poetry pass this book by. If you want a nice read that makes you feel good at the end this is it.
Only four poems in this little book. One about a hotel in Argentina, two about Kenya and one (read by Stewart on the Tonight show with Johnny Carson, find this on you tube and watch Johnny have a good cry) about a Golden named Beau.
This is a treat from a great American. It will remain in my library.
very sweet (just like the man he was). I had heard him read his poem about his dog who died a few times and while reading all of these poems, you can hear his recognizable voice.
