This was one heavy, heavy read and it anyone is looking for a nostalgic "good ol' days" book, this definitely isn't it. There is quite a bit a interesting history. I found it difficult to follow the mini-stories within the story, and I was not expecting the realistic portrayal of the 40's which was on the grim side.
