John Wooley (born April 4, 1949) is a prolific author with titles in several different formats and genres. Simultaneously a novelist, screenwriter, journalist, and radio personality, Wooley also has been responsible for the creation of several comic series, a documentary, and is a regularly contributing columnist to the horror magazine Fangoria. He has also been an entertainment writer and country music critic for the Tulsa World and is a member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
Wooley still publishes books on a regular basis, despite the demands he faces as a college professor. He is popular with his students, who take his classes as often as they are offered.
Wooley is a leading expert on Hollywood-based detective characters, including the pulp character Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective.
Wooley traveled to Romania in the fall of 1985. He spent Halloween at Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castle, and reported on his experiences for a local radio station.
