Update: Am I the only one who finds the site confusing?  I just went onto it at work.  First it's super gigantic on my work computer but when I zoom out, I can't read anything. Tried on 2 different browsers. Either everything is super gigantic or tiny and unreadable.  Yesterday, after I listed a bunch of books I have to lend, it said I had 11 Book Requests-which I took to mean that I had 11 points to use for borrowing books. Well today it says only 5 even though I didn't borrow any books.  It says I have 32 books listed to lend but it won't show me the books I listed. When I click on those it brings up a list of books that are available from others to borrow.  There appears to be no forum there where you can ask questions.

So I signed up for Lendle just to check it out.  I listed some books there.  I got 2 requests immediately.  I lended those out.  But I'm confused.  On my home page it says:

Borrow Requests: 11.  It said 9 before I loaned out those 2 books.  Does that mean I have 11 credits to use towards borrowing books for myself?  I thought I only got pts when a loan was completed and returned.  Or do they give a point out for every 10 books you list or something like that? I don't see a help section or forum over there.  Just some FAQs and I didn't see my answer there.

I'm Msright over there too, BTW.

Lendle gives you credits for joining and listing books. And if you get a request in email, but don't respond in time to loan the book, (which I gather is first come, first loaned) you get a credit just for trying to loan the book.

I went back and listed all the Freebies I gathered over a few weeks, and earned over 100 borrow credits just for listing them.

And if you loan out books you earn money points toward a $10 Amazon card. But you don't get those points until 21 days have passed.

You can get a lot of points just by listing.

I listed about 30 books. Most were ones that were free or .99 for just a day and are now more.  When I have more time, I'll list all the ones I have that are still free, they may not stay that way.  Although some books had hundreds listed already.  I don't plan on going insane there. But, I think it was you that posted this somewhere (I did a Lendle search on the forums)-that they books don't always stay lendable so it's not necessarily good to hold off too long on lending them.

I already see a few that I want to borrow. But I'm waiting for my new Kindle-I broke mine. Luckily it's still under warranty.  The replacement was shipped today.  One of my WL books has about 20 copies available to borrow.

Yeah, depending on author/publisher settings some Kindle loanable books will turn unloanable. Some off the freebies I picked up during the holidays stated they were free for three days only so will cost now. So you never know when a lendable suddenly won't be, and if a freebie listed in the hundreds won't have a sudden run on them because people missed the three day deadline. So far the site seems to keep track of them all pretty well.

You also get points for posting a short review and tagging your books. I've had some good luck there getting books I was thinking of buying and found posted instead. Lots of the books posted are freebies, but I still think it's worth it to check it out. There's quite a few gems in the dross.

Well since I won't usually pay more than $4 for an ebook (especially if it isn't lendable), I don't care if the ones I get there are only $.99-$4.00 just to buy.  That .99 adds up quick if you constantly buy them because they're cheap.  I'm more interested in just getting more bang for my buck with the ebooks I buy.

One question though: with ebook bundles, do they just get you 1 point?  I have a 3 book bundle and a 5 book bundle, both lendable.  I saw 1 bundle there that I'd be interested in but my library also has the same books in print and Kindle.

I'm not sure, since I wasn't watching that close, but think I got 1 point for posting a couple of bundles. But I think they're only 1 credit to borrow.

I'm guessing it's probably like here, one ISBN, one credit.

OK well I just tried again and while it's still gigantic or super tiny: I was able to actually bring up my stuff. It appears to deduct the point for a book you put on your
WL before you actually borrow the book. I don't care for that.  I wanted to be able to load up my WL.

Have you tried hitting [Control] and [+] or [-] on your keyboard? It'll either increase or descrease the view of the web page. Makes the smaller stuff easier to see.

I don't mind the WL run that way. It's too easy to get a credit, and they probably don't want a book's WL to get too high. It's not like here, where a credit costs money so it would tie up too much value in the site.

How do I get to Lendle?  When I go to www.lendle.com I get redirected to http://lendle.com, and it doesn't look like an actual site, but a portal with a bunch of links to other sites.

Do I have the address correct?

Thanks,

Denise

Yeah I can see that.

I did do the +/- think and all it did was make the type smaller but the page still spread out.  It was odd.  Also if I bring up my WL or books there, then look up a book, I cannot get back to my lists or look up another book w/o logging out and in again.

I go to www.lendle.me

That is odd. I never have to log back in. Maybe it's some settings on your browser? I only use Mozilla Firefox, so can't help with settings on the others.

I had problems with Firefox and IE.  I haven't logged on since I got home, but I suspect it's somehow incompatible with my work computer.

I used my Kinde early on New Years day and it worked fine.  I didn't use the case when I put it in my purse and went to a Meet-up at a restaurant.  I think it got smooshed when a bunch of us were in a booth. It's still under warranty and the replacement should be here tomorrow.  They sent me a return label for the broken one.

OK still having problems on both IE and Firefox. It will not show me my listed books. And when I first went on it said I had a lend reqeust to fullfill. But then the request disappeared.  And since it won't show me my books, I can't look at the listing.

OK got it to show me my books.  The request it showed me when I first logged in is still gone.  Maybe the person cancelled it right as I was logging on but since I can't see a transaction history it I don't know.

From what I can tell, unless you have the only copy the request goes out to more than one person. You should get an email saying you had a request. When you click on the link it'll say that someone beat you to it, but you get a credit for trying. So you get a credit either way.

I don't think you see that announcement when you miss one on the screen, just in the email link.

You have to be really quck on some of them, since people earn money toward an Amazon card people really respond quickly. But I do tend to have about 5-10 books out at a time, so it's not impossible to catch the requests.

I was just coming on to say that that's what happened. I just checked my email. THe email came at 4.59 so someone was really quick on the draw since I was on Lendle right after that.

I clicked on the email link because I was thinking maybe there was a problem.  I thought it went by FIFO.  I will not like the site if I have to constantly watch it in order to lend any of my books.  Most of the books I have are already listed by someone.

Except that you get a credit just for trying to loan the book, even if you're too late to actually loan it. Then you'll have a credit to spend, and still have the loan to give out.

(ed. Well, if you don't earn a credit, you earn credit toward a credit, if not a full one. I never remember to check my credit number before hitting the link on the email. But when you're too late to lend a book, the site says...(That missing "A" before "Credit" does make it read a bit iffy.))

(Someone beat you to it! This lend request has already been fulfilled. Thanks so much for being willing to lend. Lendle can’t work without lenders like you, and we can’t thank you enough!

You’ve earned credit towards a borrow request for trying, nonetheless!)

Well the partial credit is better than nothing but still not the same as a full lend. The full lends get you the gift certificates faster and give you another request to use.  I requested a book yesterday and still haven't heard anything.

The site is stil confusing to me.  I just pulled it up in another window. Yesterday I saw that one of my WL books had a lendable copy posted.  So I requested the book. Now when I look at my request list it shows me as being 4 inline for the book and with 1 lendable copy.  That makes no sense to me.  If the person isn't willing to lend the book out then it shouldn't show up as having a lendable copy listed.   And what does "spots in line booked: 0" mean?  If they've taken my point and put in me line behind 3 other people, wouldn't that mean there's 4 spots in line booked not 0?

It seems like the bulk of what is immediately available to request is Christian romances (which I don't read) and books that were recently freebies.  But I've only just started looking.  I'll give the site awhile and if I'm not getting to borrow any books-I'll stop listing mine.

I do wish they had someplace that spelled out all of the particulars to the site. I haven't found anything that explains it all yet.

Yesterday I saw that one of my WL books had a lendable copy posted.  So I requested the book.

I think part of the confusing aspect is that they allow people to list books that 1) aren't lendable and 2) have already been loaned out. I don't list books that I can't lend, or have already lent, but I think people do so they don't request something they already have. So you see new books pop up that you can't borrow.

I try to go back into my own lists and remove anything that's no longer lendable for what ever reason. I think the unlendable ones just muck up the system.

Now when I look at my request list it shows me as being 4 inline for the book and with 1 lendable copy.

I think that 'copy' number for books isn't how many are lendable in the system, but how many have been posted in the past. That's why the long waits on some of them as only a few, or none, have been posted, ever. Then you can decide whether to wait for it or cancel and move to something quicker to get.

On the 'borrow' button choices with low numbers, I think it's just that you have a lot of people request at the same time, and one gets it and the rest are put in line after the mad scramble.

They certainly could be clearer about things. Too much guessing going on.

WOW -RD

???

I never quite know what this is supposed to mean.

I guess I miss out on the original context, so I have no idea what you're trying to say here or how it adds to anything.

No, problem, Mary. If I find a web page with all the info, I'll post it here.

I like the site, just wish it was a bit easier to figure out.
