A beautiful, simple book for a beautiful, simple message. This is a story that needs to be read. And needs to be read often.

Good book. Very inspirational but if you are sensitive about criticism of the church/religion I would advise you not to read it.

This is a story about a modern-day Jesus (Joshua) and how he affects the people he meets. Though the characters are under-developed, it is still a very moving and inspiring read. The novel expresses many universal messages that are shared with other faiths. A wonderful gift book!

One of the best books ever. I own all the Joshua series and wouldn't part with any of them. This is a duplicate paperback and still a keeper for someone else.

Inspirational account of Jesus in a modern setting. "the woodcarver Joshua disturbs some of his neighbors. While he quietly and lovingly urges all around him to break down the walls that separate them, there are others who are frightened of him. Finally, some chruch leaders confront him..."

Joshua, a Christian fiction also out on DVD and Video... is a fast read...You won't want to put the book down once you start to read. I really enjoyed the book much better than the movie.
{From the back of the book...}
When Joshua moves to a small cabin on the edge of twon, the local people are mystified by his presence. A quiet and simple man, Joshua appears to seek nothing for himself. He supports himself by working as a carpenter. He charges very little for his services, yet his craftsmanship is exquisitic. The statue of Moses that he carves for the local synagogue prompts amazement as well as consternation.
What are the townsfolk to make of this enigmatic stranger? Some people report having seen him carry a huge cherry log on his shoulders effortlessly. Still others talk about the child in a poor part of town who was dreadfully ill but, after Joshua's visit, recovered completely.
Dispite his benevolence and selfless work in the community, some remain suspicious. Finally, in an effort to address the community's doubts, the local religious leaders comfront Joshua.

Here is a profoundly moving, deeply inspiring book that no reader will ever forget. Already Joshua has been called "life-changing," "engrossing," "inspiring," "entertaining." Based on a scrupulously accurate reading of scripture, Joshua has universal appeal and is a true exercise in spirituality. Once you've read it, you'll want everyone you love to read it, too.

A profoundly moving, deeply inspiring book that you will not forget. Joshua is the mysterious carver that comes to town and produces statues that no one expects. What type of person is this Joshua?
