While I had read the **gushing** reviews of this book, I was still completely surprised at how good it was, especially for a debut novel.   A vulnerable, tortured hero, love scenes that will set your panties on fire and a great story.  What's not to like?   Since it's been a couple of years, I hope she has new books.

If you've read her, waddaya think?  I'd put her in a class with Laura Kinsale, Judith Ivory and Penelope Williamson.   Well done debut novel, IMO.

I agree with everything you have said above.  I was very pleasantly surprised with this book, especially because I feel that the reviews and blurbs do not do it justice at all.   It's like trying to describe a Laura Kinsale novel.  You just can't do it in 200 words or less.  I loved Broken Wing.  I have read it twice.  I have two more books by her waiting for a quiet winter weekend.

I love her too and I just finished Libertines Kiss, loved it instant keeper.  Based loosely on the real life libertine John Wilmont Earl of Rochester can't wait for her next book.

I ADORED this book. Libertine's Kiss was also great (not as good) with the love scenes a bit purple lol. I have Highland Rebel but it too has received mixed reviews so I've hesitated to get started. Its another long book but I have a feeling I'm going to love it. Broken Wing is among my all time favs up there with Flowers From the Storm and Seize the Fire.

I LOVED Broken Wing. Also enjoyed Libertine's Kiss. I don't think I have read her other books, yet, but plan to.

I'm with the very very few that just thought this book was okay.  I really looked forward to this book though I'd read so many good reviews about it I couldn't wait to read it.   But I felt like I was reading more of a historical fiction than a historical romance.  There just wasn't enough character connection for me I guess.   This is the only book I've read by JJ but  I have Highland Rebel in my TBR pile and I'm gonna read it soon.   I think I'm gonna like it though it doesn't have  very good ratings and those are the ones I usually like LOL
