I checked the USPS postal holiday schedule and the 4th is listed obviously, but I just wanted to know if anyone knew if the post office will be open tomorrow (the 3rd).  I have unexpected errands today and will not get there, but nothing will be 'late' if I can get to P.O. tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone knew.

thanks!

Many small ones will close early at noon and all of them will be closed on Saturday.

Thanks, Patricia, I'll make sure to go before noon, even though I don't consider my local PO small.  But better safe than sorry.

Happy 4th weekend!

MOST post offices will close at noon tomorrow. Assume yours does or check before going. Since most businesses are closed tomorrow, the PO didnt think they should pay all those clerks to stand around and just wait on the occasional customer.

Yes, the USPS website says they'll close at noon, but deliveries will be normal.

How interesting.  I also saw on the USPS website that most offices would be closing at noon.  We were planning on it, too, until higher-ups in our District said no way.  I'm not sure any offices in our entire part of the country closed early.  I would have like to.  Didn't sell a single stamp!

I think it's great the postal employees had an extra half day but I would have appreciated having had a bit of prior notice (a week or so).  When I looked at the posted closings Monday, nothing was mentioned about the 3rd.  I did go at 2:30 on the 3rd, when I expected them to reopen after lunch to discover it was closed (a new note was posted at that time).  Packages cannot be left at our Post Office if they weigh over 13 ounces even if the postage has been paid through PayPal or Click-n-Ship so I am mailing one late.

It was not really an "extra" holiday. the window clerks either had to come in extra early or take vacation time to make up for it.

I would have appreciated having had a bit of prior notice (a week or so).

a flier came out around June 20 that should have been posted in the window of all POs closing early. the website has had a big "ALERT" on the front page for weeks letting people know about the closings.

Today the window was not crazy busy, so I would wager that the PO will do this again, espessaly if the holiday falls on a weekend.

That is not right. I would take that up with someone higher up. If it fits in the collection box and it has the correct postage on it, yopu should be able to leave it.
