The journal entries by Junie B. are pretty funny. As a teacher, I enjoyed hearing my daughter read aloud because the story is written just like a first grader would talk. It was a great way to teach inflection when reading orally.
ONE OF JUNIE B. JONE'S TOP FRONT TEETH IS LOOSE. ONLY JUNIE B. IS NOT THRILLED ABOUT THIS DEVELOPMENT. BECAUSE WHAT IF SHE LOOKS LIKE TOOTHLESS UNCLE LOU? AND EVEN WORSE...WHAT'S ALL THIS TOOTH FAIRY BUSINESS? LIKE WHO, IS THIS WOMAN, REALLY? AND WHAT DOES SHE DO WITH ALL THOSE USED TEETH? SO MANY QUESTIONS, SO LITTLE TIME.
Although this series of books is VERY popular, I am not a big fan of the Junie B Jones books. They are written in conversational English and not proper English so, in my opinion, not the best books for kids who are learning to read and write. The charachter Junie is interesting but the sentence structures used in the book are horrid, incorrect and downright got on my last nerve!
