A truely disturbing insight of 18th century France's mores.

Justine can really pick her men. Each is more sadistic than the others. Is here no escape? Not much sex, but torture and abuse abound in this novella. Not much control over the aristocracy in little old parle vous land.

I had no idea what this book was really about before I (tried to) read it. I don't have words to describe such an extremely disturbing account of such a horrendously sadistic man. No wonder the author begged his friend not to read it, asked for it be destroyed and never wanted it published!

Interesting read for a story that is 220 years old.
