Communicating - Students are encouraged to use math vocabulary to explain, orally and in writing, their thinking processes about mathematical concepts and connections. Making Connections - In each chapter students focus on recognizing the relationships between mathematical concepts and on learning to make cross-curricular connections. Using Manipulatives - Manipulatives are used to introduce mathematical concepts, enabling students to move from the concrete through a pictorial presentation to a symbolic understanding.
