the life of DC - Senators - a wedding to the "perfect man" - betrayal - and then escape to another land into the arms of her sisters husband.
This was a short story but it didn't lack anything. This is one of Miller's earlier works but her steamy love scenes still prevail. Over all I thought this was a good story, it was a very quick read.
The story wasn't terribly believable, but for fans of sex, sex, and more sex, this might be your book. The characters all act childishly at least occasionally, and even if you can understand Kate's actions, it's hard to understand why Sean is acting the way he does, even after you learn the whole story. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
Great book, I couldn't put it down.
This was a terrific book. I stayed away till 2am reading it!
a quick read. I liked watching Kate discover who she really is. In the arms of her former brother-in-law, she unravels some of her families darkest secrets.

Usual good Linda Lael Miller, love her stories.
This consist of two books: one by Miller and another by McDavid.
"Just Kate" by Miller: This story had so much potential with some interesting characters, but Miller seemed to decide to take a cop out and filled it with lukewarm sex scenes instead. Wish more time was spent actually developing the relationship between Kate and Sean. They had some real obstacles to overcome but they just kind of glanced over them. It was this way with any conflicts with other characters as well.
This is an ongoing complaint of Miller's I have: The children in her stories are just window dressing. They are perfectly behaved despite whatever hell they have been through and seems to always leave at the perfect time so the main characters can have sex.
Despite it all it did keep my attention and I finished the book. Because of that I would say it was an okay book but definitely not her best work. I was disappointed simply because it could have been so much better. 2 1/2 stars.
"His Only Wife" by Cathy McDavid: This is my first book by McDavid. Great characters but the plot lacked action which is ironic because Gage is a modern day action hero as a wilderness firefighter. Both Aubrey and Gage have some cool backstories. They were ex-spouses, going through a career crisis in a way and re-evaluating their lives. Most of the time when the plot is slow, clever dialogue will pick up the slack but unfortunately it was lacking here. Most of the book was dedicated to Aubrey diagnosing ailments after ailments. It read like an AARP ad. I forced my way through 1/3 of the book and gave up because I got fed up with hearing everything that can go wrong with your body. The book was boring which was too bad because like I said the characters were intriguing. 1 star.
