Yes I did. I got my $350 Ammy certificate from ABNA and I went shopping. Once I looked at all the classics (including Dumas!) sitting there for free or peanuts I decided I might as well give in. Found a couple of OOP's I'd been wanting with a large price drop, but I'll keep quiet until I get a ship confirmation. Woohoo. |

Welcome to the darkside. Want some chocolate? |
I'm starting to feel Luke the lone holdout.
Yes, send chocolate my way. Soon. Christa, I wouldn't have caved either but the GC made this *free* for me so I couldn't resist. |

Luke I am your Kindle. |
Christa, you're not the last one...I actually started comparing Kindles and Nooks and then they went and raised the price of the books. It's not the readers that put me off, it's paying $10 for a book, and having nothing to show for it but some 0000 and 1111. No sharing, no mooching, no lending, no borrowing, no donating to worthy causes...

I almost bought a color nook today. HSN is offering one as a today's special and it came with 100 preloaded books. Oh how I was tempted. The day is not over yet, maybe, just maybe.

I do have to agree with Robin and one thing that almost held me back is that all of the *newer* books I can get via library for free. It was looking at many of the classics available, particularly Dumas that swung me. |
I don't think I will ever use my Nook exclusively, |
I've been holding out, and I will continue to do so for a while. But eventually the freebies and OOP availabilities will tip the scale. But not yet. Other priorities for my disposable income.

Welcome to KindleLand! I love mine. I didn't think I wanted one, but my DH got it for me for Christmas...and I really love it. I don't use it exclusively, but as I read down my physical TBR pile, I can see myself getting closer. |
Yeah, I have to say I will never buy an E-Reader (or an Ipad, for that mater....well maybe an Ipad, but not to read books ). I like having a physical book to abuse, to smell, to feel. 500 years of the printed word shall not be erased by the digital age, despite Steve Jobs, the Nook, and the Kindle! |
Welcome, Cathy! Mine arrived last Tuesday and I'm really enjoying it. |
Believe me, you can abuse a Kindle. Just ask my dd. *eye roll* |
At this point I have no desire to get an e reader of any type. Between work and online "socializing", I already spend enough time looking at a screen. I'm one who almost never says never, but when it comes to this, it's almost never (perhaps if publishers actually decided to quit printing real books...) |

Think of the poor trees! Like Vicky, I didn't think I needed a Kindle but my DH got me one for Christmas too. I absolutely love it!!! And I'm also one who isn't using that exclusively , but I can say this - I will never buy a new book again. It's either PBS, or the library for the actual books! |
I just officially started my Kindle savings account. I hate all of you. FYI...proceeds from my sale of PBS credits for Amazon gift cards will now go towards my future Kindle. |
It looks like mine will be here as early as tomorrow, they say it's shipping today. |

I just officially started my Kindle savings account. I hate all of you. Don't hate me -- I don't have a Kindle (or a Nook)....................yet. |

I got a Kindle a couple of weeks ago. I love it. I have been getting most of my books for free of very cheap. I have also become hopelessly addicted Scrabble. |
Uh, Scrabble? I'm screwed |

I think I will cave before Deb. I have been grabbing those free Kindle books so I do have a dozen or so already. |

I'm going to get a kindle just as soon as I get through the 674,228 books on my TBR. I figure by the time I am 94, I am going to have that kindle! Woo-Hoo! |

It's here! It's here!
