I picked this book up at a library sale, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It is a quaint setting and a quaint story. There is an incredible underlying sadness within this book. Questioning your life and the "what-if's" ... what it's like to get older and have regrets.

A novella focussed on two women in Green Bay, WI. Very spare, the story jumps through 40 years of history in 167 short pages. Beautifully written, the novel didn't quite give me as much meat as I was hoping for--the consequence of so many years in such a short space. What she does do in these pages is extraordinary, though.
