Still haven't read the first one in the series (this is the 3rd one), but jumping into the third one, I have to say it was even better than the second.
I really liked to see Gryphon concentrate more on how Gillian is torn between her two trainings. Gillian Key is a trained soldier and she is a trained therapist for the paranormal. In fact, she is highly trained to specialize in several different fields of therapy. In this book, does it acknowledge she has a hard time switching hats (and knowing when to do so), but she has to take a stand for herself.
The second book of the series had Gillian in a more field combatitive role. This book concentrates on her as a healer. The point of antagonism is that she is also a sex therapist, and it explores her role as such. Her vampy honey isn't too thrilled with it though, so it explores the struggles that they face in their relationship with her putting her patients needs before his personal feelings and comfort.
I thought this was very well written. For those who do follow the series, there is more Dracula/Jack the Ripper plotline. And I would definitely recommend this one. Keep in mind, this is NOT light reading. This is a series to read when you want something a little darker...a little deeper. This books series definitely seems to be one that is being written as a long term series. Each book is growing and expanding this world that has been created for us.
