For me, one measure of a truly exceptional novel is remembering the storyline and the characters long after I've read it. DIE FOR ME and SCREAM FOR ME (the first two novels in the Vartanian trilogy) were both tremendous efforts by a new-to-me Karen Rose. And months after reading both, the novels are almost as startling clear as when I read them. The last of the trilogy, KILL FOR ME, carries on the same tradition of excellence.

Karen Rose packs quite a wallop. The relentless Ms. Rose pulls no punches in KILL FOR ME as she leads readers through a shocking maze of rape and mass murder toward a vicious child sex ring--whose ringleaders remain a mystery.

And the chills and the depravity just keep on coming.

Susannah Vartanian has never come to terms with her own haunted past, yet it seems her past is about to converge with this new horror exposed in KILL FOR ME. Teaming with her brother Daniel's partner Luke Papadopoulous, these two lead characters work to expose the evil targeting Susannah with a terror campaign. And more... This pair's attraction and subsequent, sometimes shaky romance, is one of the bright spots of KILL FOR ME.

Ms. Rose sketches some wonderfully vivid characters - particularly Luke and Suzannah, whose strengths and vulnerabilities are laid bare in KILL FOR ME. In addition, Ms. Rose does an exquisite job with nasty Daddy Vartanian (who is dead throughout the Vartanian trilogy) but whose legacy of wickedness lives on. Through flashbacks to the past, readers are given a pretty clear picture of a brilliant, warped mind. And let's not forget good ol' Simon Vartanian from DIE FOR ME...

The dark, edgy, creepy KILL FOR ME is the stuff of nightmares and a fitting conclusion to a brilliant trilogy. Ms. Rose takes readers on a twisty, clever journey teeming with secrets, deceits and interesting surprises.

Karen Rose is my go-to author when I want nail biting, heart-pounding, edge of the seat, unexpected plot surprises romantic suspense. I have yet to be disappointed with any of her titles. Kill For Me is her ninth romantic suspense title, but is the third in her Daniel Vartanian series that began with Die For Me, and followed by Scream For Me. This book picks up practically where the last one left off and focuses on Daniels sister, Susannah and his partner, Luke. To be honest, I didnt feel much of a connection when I first met Susannah. I thought she was intriguing, but I knew there was a lot more beneath the surface. I suspect the author intended the readers to feel that way. Susannah is a very angry woman and the reader wont understand the true reasons behind it until book #2, but this book really shook me with just how deep it went. I developed a greater understanding and empathy for this character.

I liked Luke immediately, but my respect for him and the strength of character he demonstrates consistently impressed me. The things he has seen and endured in his career would cripple most people and cause them to implode and become self-destructive. I couldnt blame him one bit if his character demonstrated any flaws, but he doesnt and his strength and courage and determination made me more impressed with him. I actually felt more connected to him than any of the other characters and I loved the scenes involving his family and the stray dog.

Parts of this story were difficult and shocking, but considering the subject revolves around human trafficking, I really could appreciate that the author didnt try to cover up any lack of knowledge or research by blowing smoke signals at the reader. I felt the author did an excellent job of researching her subject matter and connecting it to her characters and plot. Her dedication to her craft shows in the end product with a story that hits hard and draws on many emotions from the reader. The story is so good that I was able to set aside any aversions to the subject matter.

This was a fantastic story that will appeal to fans of not just the romantic suspense genre. Fans of thrillers and mysteries will find this intense story very enjoyable. A word of caution to the reader: make sure you read this trilogy in order. The character development and timeline of the events surrounding the Vartanian family will be hard to understand if you dont read them in order. On the other hand, I highly recommend reading all of Karen Roses titles. You cant go wrong with Karen Rose if you are looking for stories and characters that stay with you after the last page has been turned.

After stopping a serial killer and solving the Ritchie Rich Rapist case, police are stunned to find that there is a human trafficking ring in town. Five girls have disappeared from the prison where they were being held. Other girls were found starved, tortured and murdered. Detective Luke Papadolpoulos is leading the team searching for the girls. Susannah Vartanian came to town to give evidence on the rapists, but gets caught up in the investigation. Soon her life is threatened and only Luke and his team stand between her and certain death.

This is the third book in the Vartanian series. If you haven't read the previous books, don't start with this one. I think a person would be lost if they didn't read the previous book in the series. This book starts with the last couple chapters of the previous book, just told from a different point-of-view. The story is good with lots of twists and turns. My biggest problem is there are so many characters, it is very hard to keep track of everyone. Sometimes it felt like the villains outnumbered the good guys. My rating: 4 Stars.
