Love the book and this Author!!!! This is my first read by St. Claire and I am hooked!!!
Alex works for Bullet Catchers. It is a private organization that hires out big bad guys to protect and serve on the DL. Alex is a playboy who loves every lady. His lover boy ways have gotten him in a whole lot of hot water with his boss at Bullet Catchers. He is given one last assignment and if he can keep his hands off the woman he is hired to guard he just might save his job!!!
Jazz Adams has come to Miami to help out her twin sister Jessica. She is supposed to pretend to be Jessica while her sister is off hunting a story for her news show in the hot Florida city. When Jazz gets to Miami she finds Jessica missing and uber hunk Alex in Jessica's apt. Once they figure out that the sister is in deed missing they set out, together, to find her and figure out who would want her and why.
Unfortunately for Alex, Jazz is THE woman. She is everything he has NEVER wanted in a mate and she is the ONLY woman he can't live without. Alex and Jazz heat up the pages of the book with hot arguments, hot chemistry and really hot love. This book is a must!!!! I can't wait to read the entire series - I am deffinately a Roxanne St. Claire fan and will be reading EVERYTHING she has written!!!!
I don't want to be a negative reviewer but... I followed the reviews thinking this would be an amazing series. SOOO, I only add the following to inform those who may already have a preferred author in this genre, like me:
After spending too much time in the paranormal lately and being a fan of Cindy Gerard and her writing style, I tried this series. I was hoping that I could find another steamy "normal" man in uniform series. ;) This isn't it. Like another reviewer, the premise is fine, the result just seems to miss. Maybe Ms. Gerard has spoiled me from all others in this genre, but if you like the "Bodyguard/Black Ops" series by Gerard, keep looking, this doesn't compare.
This was a fun interesting read.
The hero is a gottie hired to protect the twin sister of the heroine. What he doesn't know is that the twins have switched places. The "wrong sister is really a private eye and convinced that she doesn't need him. There is someone stalking and trying to kill them. This mystery makes everyoe a potential enemy.
Alex Romero is the hottest "Bullet Catcher" in the business. PI Jasmine Adams is fiercely independent and fearless under pressure = she doesn't need anyone's help to catch the creep stalking her twin sister. This story takes place in Miami and Key West and is worth the read.
This just didn't work for me. Jazz was almost TSTL and she's supposedly a PI; she didn't act like one. I thought Alex was a cardboard cutout; there was no real depth, IMO. There was also zero chemistry between them. I thought the plot was silly too.
You know how the term "B movie" is used for all those movies that are just to cheesy, over-the-top or just plain not well acted enough to really be taken seriously, but are sometimes fun to watch just the same? Well, this book would be the perfect example if there were a term like that for books (MAN, I wish there was!) The premise is great, the suspense is good, but the actual experience is a lesson in annoyance and frustration if one is looking for intelligent, believable romantic/suspense. If, however, one is just looking for a frolic that doesn't necessarily make any sense but is fun to read, here's your story!
Why? Let me list a few of the reasons... First and foremost the heroine. There is not enough eye-rolling in the world to cover this chick. TSTL can't explain it because, for all the stupid, and I mean STUPID decisions she makes, Ms. St. Clare, insists she is such a go-getting genius that she should be considered among the worlds best protective service agents. Whhhaaaaat??? That is so far-fetched, the mind can't even begin to wrap around it.
Second, Alex (our hero)... While he is the epitome of "Latin Lover," he is not given enough depth to make any of the emotions real. We are told about him but we never get enough actual insight to see anything of him - aside from the hot physical stuff, of course. That takes frustrating to a whole new level in this book. We WANT to feel those emotions we are being told about - why can't we?!?! Maybe it's all those incredibly, sexy Spanish expressions that pepper almost every page that ARE. NEVER. TRANSLATED! Those of us who don't speak that language are left in the dark every time he says anything that might allow us to delve into his feelings. Or it might be the fact that, although he repeatedly expresses his commitment to stay with Jazz forever throughout the book.... he leaves. *blahlelalalala* (that is being done while rattling the head.)
And third, the vast majority of the plot itself if made up of cliche's one would find in the worst B movie. From the ultra conservative Christian wacko (oh get over that, already!) to the wallpaper porn story bad guys, to the accomplice that is just trying to save her kid, each come across as titillating - at the expense of intelligent - writing.
OK, ok! Enough of the grousing. I know I am in the very small minority here and though it may not seem so, I have read other Roxanne St. Claire offerings and have absolutely loved them. Many others highly recommend this series so I'm choosing to believe this is a fluke and will assuredly pick up another of her books, hoping for the best.
Jasmine Adams has come to Miami to take her twin sister's place while Jessica works on a big story. When she gets to Jessica's apartment, she finds Jessica is gone but her new bodyguard, Alex Romero, is waiting. Alex works for Bullet Catchers, a private organization who hires out to the rich. He has been assigned to guard Jessica who has been receiving threatening letters, but since she is already missing, he will protect Jazz. Alex and Jazz soon discover that Jessica is not working on a story, but really is missing. Now their mission is to find Jessica before a madman fulfills his promise to kill her.
This is the first book in St. Claire's Bullet Catchers series. I found the mystery/suspense portion of the book to be very interesting. I was surprised by who was behind Jessica's disappearance and liked the way the story was told. I wasn't as happy with the romance portion. I really liked Alex, but found Jazz a bit hard to take. She would just jump into the middle of situations without thinking about them. I also didn't think she loved Alex as much as he loved her. It was more like he was convenient to her since they were stuck together in Jessica's apartment. But, overall I liked this book and want to read more of the series. My rating: 4 Stars.
I am so extremeley excited to have found this series. It is so good. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Love the characters and their back stories. A definite read for those of you who love suspense, charm, humor and a great love story.
Alex Romero is the hottest "Bullet Catcher" in the business. Tall, dark and deadly, now he has one last chance to prove he belongs among that elite force. Jasmine Adams is fiercely independent and fearless under pressure, but when she uncovers forces targeting her sister for death, she's glad to have Alex's brain and brawn in her corner. In the steamy streets of Miami, they race to keep a madman from fulfilling his promise to kill not just once, but twice.
