Another great book by Chelsea Cain! Gretchen and Archie are at it again. Many plot twists and turns with a surprise ending. Did not see it coming. Can't wait for the next book in this series!
Cain returns to the complex Archie/Gretchen relationship with a bang in this latest book in the series. She is an inventive writer, managing to concoct surprising twists in the plot or the people that will keep readers guessing. She creates terrific characters, too--I find Archie to be an endlessly fascinating study, but even Gretchen and Susan are more nuanced and dimensional in this book.
While I really liked Kill You Twice, I can also point to a few things I didn't care for: inventive and clever the story may be, but Cain seems to have gone overboard on surprising revelations and implausible resolutions this time--after a while, they lose their impact. Ditto for the rather graphic violence; somehow it bothered me more in this book than it has before. And Bliss, Susan's way over the top, hippie mom, drives me crazy--she's the character I love to hate in this series.
