This book is very darkly funny. It's called an "acid noir" in the synopsis, for very good reason. It takes place in slightly different reality than ours, where two major mob families are fighting for control of the city, in a surreal and creative battle for supremacy. It's difficult to describe, and defintely not for the faint of heart. Recommended for those who like darker, visceral hard crime novels, and those with a slightly off-beat sense of humor favoring the macabre.
