A wonderful mystery- It is hilarious and keeps you guessing to the end.Lacy the fashion editor for a small paper finds herself solving a murder. She is wonderful- you will relate to the character so much that you find yourself caught up in the book until you turn the last page. I did not put this book down- I need to catch up with alot of housework before I open the second book of the series. Grab Ellen Byerrum books and find yourself a park and read. The money we save at PBS- we can hire a maid for a day and our husband won't know.

I read pages 1-5 and stopped, restarted latter and almost gave up. It may have been me. WOW Ellen Byerrum can write. She knows how to make the characters distinct. Her main character is so real, honest and fun. This is set in Washington DC and the main characters last name is Smithsonian. There are alot of political and DC jokes. It helps of you know some Areas of DC. I like how the character is realistic about many things. The fashion jabs are great.

Lacey Smithsonian is on the fashion beat at a smaller Washington DC paper. When an up and coming stylist named Angie is found dead, a mutual friend (Lacey's stylist and Angie's coworker) asks Lacey to look into the death. The pacing was a little weird at times and I felt like I was missing something from time to time. Overall though, it was a fun mystery. I'm still not totally sure what was up with the killer, but it seems the first in a cozy mystery series is never quite as good as the ones that follow. I'm rather confident this is the case with this series.

An up-and-coming stylist, Angie Woods had a reputation for rescuing down-and-out looks--and careers--all with a pair of scissors. But when Angie is found dead with a drastic haircut and a razor in her hand, the police assume she committed suicide over the shear disaster. Lacey knew the stylist and suspects something more sinister--that the story may lie with Angie's star client, a congressional staffer with a salacious Web site. Or with a recent string of thefts at the salon, helped by a hunky ex-cop, Lacey must root out the truth--before she becomes the next subject of a hostile makeover.
