I was unexpectedly surprised at the enjoyable plot that kept me guessing to the end. The author does not go too deeply into the land of role-playing games - just enough to give you idea of how they work, the kinds of people involved (a real variety), why they're fun, and how they can be perverted by a few unstable personalities into terrifying traps for even those who are not involved in the games themselves. A fun read.

Good book, interesting plot. Thought I had it all figured out, but she surprised me with a few twists and turns that made me question my theory. Ending had a few more surprises, too! A little bit of romance thrown in for good measure, but nothing over the top or annoying enough to detract from the suspense. If you like your mysteries with a few surprises, I think you would enjoy this book.

One of Spindler's best! The plot twists really keep you guessing... you won't believe how this one ends. The characters are awesome; Stacy Killian, the main character, was introduced in Spindler's earlier book "See Jane Die". The plot deals with role-playing games (RPG), but does it in a way that is easy to understand. This book also has less of a "romance" side to it than some of Spindler's earlier books; the good tension is there between the characters, but is more implied than written about.

One word of warning though: if you have not read "See Jane Die", then this book does contain spoilers!

An excellent mix of old and new characters from 'See Jane Die' and 'Bone Cold'. After Stacy leaves Dallas P.D. and moves to New Orleans and starts grad school, her friend and neighbor is killed. Stacy finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation with one of the Malone boys. This crime puts her right in the path of a new role-playing game, White Rabbit, that plays to the death. Very good book.

New author for me; but I'll be reading more of her work. A suspensful mystery with a bit of romance (but nothing sexually explicit like a lot of female authors seem to feel is necessary). If you haven't read this one yet don't be surprised if you change your mind about who the White Rabbit is before you're done.

"The White Rabbit beckons you to follow him, down the rabbit hole, into his world. He's a deceiver, a trickster. You won't know what is truth and what is lie. He aims to best you. Beat you. And when he does, you die."
"A friend's brutal murder turns former homicide detective Stacy Killian's life upside down. Unwilling to trust Spencer Malone, the overconfident New Orleans detective assigned to the case, Stacy is compelled to return to the investigative role she had fled.
The investigation leads Stacy and Spencer to White Rabbit, a cultish fantasy role-playing game. White Rabbit is dark, violent--and addictive. As the body count mounts, they find themselves trapped in a terrifying game that's more real than life and death. Because anyone can die before the final moment when White Rabbit is over...and the Killer Takes All.

This is a fast paced novel with unexpected twists and turns. The killer is not revealed until the end. This is one of Erica Spindler's best. I read it in one sitting.

Spindler uses New Orleans to good advantage as she constructs an intricate plot with more loops than the caterpillar"s hookah. It's a fun read - perfect the the beach or summer porch.

Former police detective Stacy Killian has given up her badge in favor of grad school in New Orleans. But when she finds the bodies of her neighbors, she doesn't believe the police are doing everything they can to find the killers. Stacy starts her own investigation into their deaths. The investigation leads her to a violent on-line role-playing game called White Rabbit. As she compares notes with Police Detective Spencer Malone, they find a string of murders that are tied to the game.

I loved the first half of the story and couldn't put it down. The story was speeding along with something new uncovered each chapter. I took a guess as to who was the Supreme White Rabbit...the person who was running the game...and got it right. But when we started uncovering the people behind the murders, I didn't think it really added up. The reasoning behind some of the actions were bizarre to me. I did end up guessing correctly, but I wasn't really satisfied with the end. Therefore, I subtracted one star. My rating: 4 Stars.
