Can you use the text-to-speech feature for ebooks on a Kindle Fire?  If so, how do you enable it?  I just got my Fire and have several books that have the text-to-speech feature enabled (as per Amazon kindle store), but I can't figure out how to (or if I can) use it on my Fire.

(Probably already asked & answered here but I can't find topic, and I have spent mucho time already on Amazon looking for answer to no avail...thanks in advance)!

Just found the answer, not available for Kindle Fire.  Text-to-Speech is available only for Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle (2nd generation), and Kindle DX.

Yeah, kind of disappointing since it would be nice to listen to a book I didn't want to stop reading when driving, doing housework, etc.  Except for that missing feature and not quite as readable in daylight as the e-ink, I like it, and it was a gift, so it was FREE!  Not complaining.

Just bought a Fire today! I don't even have a smart phone.....so wondering--isn't there a PBS app of some sort?

The PBS apps are written by members, not PBS.  I do not know about the quality of the Android one, which would be what you would use on a Fire.

But I did want to mention that ARe has an explaination on how to read DRM ePubs on the Fire, using an Overdrive app.  Digimonkey.
